Institute for a Broadband-Enabled Society

The Melbourne Networked Society Institute builds upon the history of the Institute for a Broadband-Enabled Society (IBES). The Institute received support from the State Government of Victoria from 2009 to 30 June 2015, enabling 96 research projects involving 406 researchers and 111 external collaborators from 104 organisations. The Institute has assisted in training the next generation of research leaders through the provision of 27 PhD Scholarships and hosting 15 Interns. The Institute has hosted 84 seminars, workshops and lectures, published 281 academic papers and received coverage in 341 media articles. The Institute, with support of industry partners, has developed leading research infrastructure to facilitate research and development in broadband and the networked society.
